Release 0.2.7 How to do WOOP in EntireTask
So today, I was watching one of Brian Johnson's optimized plus ones, and he mentioned Gabriel Oettinger, who created the book or wrote the book, rethinking positive thinking. She is a world-class researcher who has spent her career studying the science of making your dreams come to life. I'm all about making your dreams come to life.
Today, I am actually releasing projects and tasks in EntireTask, and I'm going to show you how to implement something. She calls WOOP and w stands for wish O stands for outcome or the benefits of attaining that wish. Oh, as for obstacles that get in your way and P is for plan. So let's talk about how we would actually do that inside of entire task.
So, if you haven't been with me before a quick review, when you first jump in, you're going to be given 10 areas of your life. And these are areas that we pulled our existing client base on, and these were the top 10 areas that came back for us. You can change the names of them, call them anything you like, but we just wanted to kind of give you a guideline or some sort of guidance in there.
You can go in there, and change the colors over here, create a vision for this area. And so when, when you come in here, it's going to be blank. And it's going to say, wouldn't mind, life be amazing if... so that's the way that I preface it and the way that, she prefaces it is; "what do you want in your life?"
If you could wave a magic wand and create anything, what would you see? And so, you know, Brian Johnson uses this on almost everything, which is awesome. It's a good endorsement for this. And, and I'm not saying he uses EntireTask. He uses the woop framework. Okay. So after you've created that, you know, how would your life look?
You want to say whether your life is currently in integrity with that out of integrity or somewhat in integrity. And you can see that here and to change it. You just simply go into the dropdown there. The next thing you want to do. Do you want to put your life into area of importance? So what is your primary focus in your life right now?
And you'll notice that I've created mine from 10 down to one, because I want everything to flow. And I do have, like, there are certain things that are more important than others. Things that's not to say that you could make some things of equal value to other things. it's just, you know, how much do you want to see the importance now over here on the right is, well, right now it's full of pictures, but it looks like a, an image.
Well, and this is where you actually upload your pictures of that, which right. The first part of the woop is the wish. And so you want to grab some pictures that represent your life. Has you would like to see it, something that's emotionally powerful, more powerful for you because the more emotional it is, it seems the greater power we have to follow it through and it's not just seen.
So it's actually just like this woman has done she's she's done years and years of research and. It is the more emotionally connected you are to something, the more likely you're actually going to follow it through, especially in the hard times. Right? So now we've got our images and every morning I look at my imageboard and my vision board, and I look at what my life will look like, the way that I want it to look.
Some of it is already there. You know, there are already some existing pictures, like some of my relationships with my friends. Right. And with my family, because I'm really happy with those areas. You'll also notice that they're further down because I'm really happy in those areas. Right. But they also reflect on how I want things to be going forward.
I want to continue to have a happy family, continue to have good relationships. You know, continue to be creative, continuing my spirituality, and then that's look up at the more aspirational things. So, you know, I'd love to have one day wouldn't. We all love to have a solar-powered yacht. That'd be really cool, or a solar-powered truck or an amazing home somewhere exotic in the world.
Right? Anything that fires you up? That is super important to you and your family. Don't forget your family in this. Um, you know, and the environment, you know, I, the reason I want those solar things is I want to have an impact on the environment, right? So that's our vision area. So let's look at the business areas.
Now, the business areas I didn't add in the images. Because really business owners start businesses for personal reasons, right? Usually, they want to create a legacy. They want to provide for their families. They have certain goals and desires. That's the emotional connection. Business stuff isn't so visually emotional, right, or kind of heart getting; so, that's why it's not included in the vision, of, you know, in the vision board. Now, if that's what you want, Hey, comment down below and let me know. I can certainly put it in there, but now let's talk about your business areas. I usually work with four areas: planning, promotion, production, and provision.
Now they could be any one of those could be the top thing for you. Right? Let me talk about what each area means really quickly. So you can think of w let's start with the outward-facing things first. So promotion is all of the marketing and promotion things you do for your company. Production is either producing like video, like I'm producing right now or producing/manufacturing your product or any sort of production type of, action.
Right? Provision is providing your services. You know, maybe you're a lawyer you provide, you know, one-on-one, or maybe you're a coach, and you provide a group sort of thing or anywhere where you're interacting with your clients to provide the service. Right. And then the last thing is planning.
Not that it's less important to me. It's more important planning is all of the stuff you do internally. It's all of the administration stuff. It's all of the strategy stuff. It's all of the stuff that you do for the business. Right. Right now I've got provision for my customers last because we are in development and, you know, creation stage and you know what, I'm going to put this up to there and move that down to there.
You notice they swapped around real quick because that's technically where we are right now. But I had a, something going on that I wanted to pop up to the top. We'll talk later about that importance in how it affects everything. But just suffice it to say that you've got these areas again, you can rename them to anything that you want.
I just wanted you to get the idea of what they actually were. Also. Let's take a look at, how I've actually numbered the business areas. So you'll notice that, there's a little bit of room here and that is because this can go up to 14. And the reason behind that is if you would like all of your business things to come up at the start of your day or at the start of all of your lists, then that's what you want to do.
You want to put them above 10? Right. So 14, 13, 12, 11. And they will make sure that they're always at the top, but if you want to intermingle them with your other life areas, then you want to keep them below 10. I hope that helps. All right. So now let's move on to your goals. All right. So you can see that I have a lot of goals in my life, right?
And a lot of goals for the company. And, it might be a little overwhelming, but let's start to kind of pair it down. So for instance, here's our importance, right? And remember how we had our numbers of priority for our areas. You'll notice leaving a legacy for my son. Mo one of my key things, right?
It's one of the most important things to me. And that has a priority of 10. Well that's because, and the reason it has 20 in importance is because it's vision or area is finances, which also has a 10. So now that has a 20, does that make sense? I hope so, because it's really important to get. Now, you know what, this isn't quite as important.
I'm going to pop that down there and you know, that's not quite as important. I'm going to pop that down there. okay, wonderful. So I am happy with that right now, but you know, it's still a little overwhelming to me. Maybe I just want to look at. What are the goals that we're working on right now? Right?
The big goals. do I have any goals this week? Oh, look, actually, do I need to walk three times this week? And you'll notice when I have a filter on it goes red to show me that I have a filter and I'm, I'm stopping that and let's have a look in here. Ooh. I've only walked one time this week and it's Wednesday.
So. I better walk if I'm going to want to reach that goal. Right. Like after that, what are we working on this month? Okay. So these are big things that we're working on this month is I from a health perspective, I want to walk. Do you know, 14 times last month I made it to 13. You know, jeez, just almost got it there.
No, I want to get my bridge bags. I had some dental work done. Oh, you know how bad it is. I want to get 10 paid users in entire tasks. So that's like my first business one that's really important to me. I want to get into Techstars. Not really much I can do about that. that's you notice it's green there.
I've already pretty much done all I can do. I'm just waiting now to find out if they accept us into Techstars. I don't know if they will, but I'm interested in it. So, and, the certified business coach thing, I want to look into that a little bit more. So that's kind of like our, our big things that we're working on this month.
And of course I can, you know, take it out. Hey, what do I want to achieve in three years? Okay, well, there we go. You know, I want to have 500 K in revenues, 3000 users, and you know, I want to have that Hummer, EV. you know, I'd, I'd love to have that electric catamaran. I want to play golf in the reds Cayman islands.
That'd be really nice. So we can see, we can see long-term right as well as short term, and we can pair things down. So it makes it really easy. Now, this is interesting. What is that number right there? Well, that number is, let me actually release this filter because I want to see everything I'm going to go into completed.
And so that is what that number is right there. It's the number of completed goals that you have achieved while using entire task. And that number actually contributes to the number that we're tracking inside of the entire database for everybody. And we're going to start running machine learning on it and, learn to understand, you know, what is it that helps people achieve more goals?
What did they do a little bit differently? So that's going to be really interesting. We can't see like any data that you put in there. Like we can't see what you actually type, but we can tell, okay, how many projects did they set up? How many tasks did they do? What timeframe was it? Were they working with a team?
Were they working with a coach? Were they working with an accountability partner? All of these things that we're tracking inside of the system so that we can learn. What helps you guys achieve your goals faster? That's really important to us. And that number by the way is called our Northstar. That's, like the key metric inside of our business.
How many people are we helping to achieve their goals? Okay. So I'm gonna release that right now, actually. And, just go back to my importance. So you notice like whenever I'm on of you, it highlights just to make it a little bit easier. Okay. So now, if I was going to create a goal, I'd just click here and super simple.
I don't need to walk you through that. You can see some of the other videos for that. All right. So now let's actually talk about, so that everything that we just covered was kind of like your wish, right? So those are all of the wishes w of the work. So what is the next one? Oh is for outcome. So what actually go inside of a goal here and let's look at a couple of the outcomes.
And also the next step is obstacles. Right? So what makes the school complete? That's an outcome, right? how will it affect you and others? That's an outcome. Who will you become when you achieve that? Yes. I'll become a SAS founder, a funded SAS founder.
Okay. That's who I will become when I achieve this. So those are all kind of outcomes. Right? And then this one right here in the middle, maybe I'll move that down to the bottom, but that is, or not, that one is, it's this one right here. This is an obstacle. And so what might stop you from making that right?
And so the reason you want to do that, and the reason you want to think about obstacles is you want to kind of set up buffers and contingencies. So what might stop you from achieving that goal? What is going to get in your way? Right. That is really, really important to know, going into something, especially something that's really ambitious for you.
You want to know, okay. What, what do I kind of have to set up? To make sure that that happens, right. What is going to trip me up either, you know, intrinsically meaning something that I'm going to trip myself up on or extrinsically something that's going to stop us. Right. So that's what we want to do on the two O's of the system is outcome and obstacles.
All right. I'm going to say that. Now, what is the last thing of the whoop? The whoop P is plan. So let's go into our projects
And this is our wonderful new area that we've created the projects and, and I actually want to create a new project. All right. And so this is, This is laser coaching. Okay. And our related area, this is production because it's a package that I am putting together, and this will help us get our 10 paid users.
Remember, that's something that we're working on this month and the timeframe. you know what, I'm probably gonna realistically, yeah. I want to get that done next week. And how important is it? I'm going to say it's about a seven and now let's go into the actual project itself. And, so I am going to start working on that today and, I am going to try to get that it, it made it up to the 18th.
Yeah. you know what I want, I probably want to get it done by then. And so there, now we have, that information and reward. Okay. So let's talk about reward. How are you going to reward yourself when you get this done? so maybe I will, take myself out for lunch. Okay. what are the consequences of not doing it?
Yeah, the consequences of not getting this project done is, we have no, coaching product. That's not good. And no, this is where I was talking to you about, you know, when she talks about the obstacles, right? This is a little bit further into that. What are the internal blockers that might stop me?
So I can get squirrely and, I can get derailed and that's actually one of the reasons. That I am so crazy about this kind of stuff. Why I created EntireTask is because I need to really have a solid plan. It's just the way I am. I'm pedantic about it. And if I don't have a solid plan, I get discombobulated and I get off in different areas and you know, so my internal thing is I will get lost.
Right. And, something else will capture my attention.
And, that'd be nice if I could actually spell. Something else would capture my attention. Okay. External blockers, what, you know, something else of importance, something else of importance could move in front of this.
And, I don't know why it's probably cause I'm nervous because I know I'm doing this for you guys. Okay. But that, that really won't block me. That will just kind of slow me down slow. Yeah. Okay. So, and I haven't started working on it yet, so I'm going to leave that as new and yeah, I'm going to leave it at seven.
I think that's, that's where we want to be. Okay. So there we go. We have created a new project. And right now we're by creation. Right? So it's from the last thing that was created. Yeah. If I look at my importance here, I can look and I can see, okay, well, where is that in the, you know, stream of things?
There it is laser coaching. I couldn't find it for a second. so we can see that's where it is on our path, right. Of importance. So it's a good thing that I made that for next week. Cause I have some other things going on that are more important this week. Right. And so it's nice to be able to see that.
And let's again, maybe let's make that a little easier to see. So this week, those are the things that I'm working on next week. Okay. There's our laser coaching. It's number one for next week. So we set that up. There we go. And again, this is for completed projects, right? okay. So the last part of the P plan, we got our projects.
Now we need to create our tasks.
And so let's actually create a task for that project that we just created. And I am going to add that task right there, and I need to watch call one. And, that is, that leads or coaching. And now do you notice it picked up. The area of the project above it. So that's just kind of like a handy thing. If this is, you know, make your life a little bit easier, you don't have to select it, but this is a little bit different because I'm not producing in this.
It's actually an intellect. kind of thing, cause I'm learning something right. And I do actually want to work on that this week and it is fairly important that I work on that this week. Now, when do I want to work on that? Let's actually go in there and look at our due date. It set it up for a week from today.
But I think that I actually want to, usually I do my learning stuff on Thursdays. So I'm just going to move that to there. All right. So there we go. And you'll notice that, again, this is creation and now I can look at all of my things by importance, right. And I compare it down by timeframe. And what's this thing here?
Well, this thing is our due today. So these are the things that we're going to do today. But the way that I classify today is it's 24 hours from now. Right. so that we understand the things that are coming up so we can see some of these things are tomorrow and we just want to be aware of them. Right.
And then of course, we've got our completed tasks and then we've also got our tasks that are overdue. And so there we go, we have all of our things nice and easy and filtered and, we can just get to work. That's our plan, right? So we did our wish. We did our outcome, we did our obstacles and now we're doing our plan.
So the next piece that I'm working on for you guys is actually the roadmap so that you can see, for instance, Those 25 year things and the daily things on one dashboard, how are we going to do that? You're going to have to wait and see, because it's pretty, pretty cool. We're building it right now. We've got the prototype running in another tool so we know it can be done.
And now we're just kind of putting all the pieces together in here. Hope to have that coming to you soon. I hope you like this update. And go out there, start working on your dreams.
