Alexandra Cousins on Clarity, Power & Follow-through
Marni: [00:00:17]
All right. So today I have Alex cousins with us and Alex, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself
and your background?
Alex Cousins: [00:00:30] Yes. So, first of all, thank you so much, Marni, for having me and, well, my, background is, very diverse in a sense that I I'm originally German. I grew up in Italy and went to Swiss boarding schools, studied internationally, worked internationally, and then eventually settled in, In South Africa and Cape town for 16 years, which was really the longest that I've ever been in one place - [00:01:00] just before everything happened.
We actually moved to Bali in our lives, and we are now living in Indonesia currently on a tiny little Island and sort of waiting out for things to smooth
Marni: [00:01:22] Yeah, Bali's beautiful scene where you are. It looks so wonderful.
Alex Cousins: [00:01:27] Yeah, it is. It's pretty paradisical. I have to say
Marni: [00:01:32] that's a great word. I love that one.
Awesome. So, before you started your business,
what were you doing?
Alex Cousins: [00:01:42] Well, you know, I like to say that what I'm currently doing is not even a business. It's really my deepest calling and it's a movement.
Marni: [00:01:51] It's beautiful.
Alex Cousins: [00:01:53] Sure. You know, it happens to have business elements, but I really don't see it as a business anymore at all.
[00:02:00] before I was doing my highest calling, I was in, I first started out in the health and healing industry, more hospitality, concept development for health and spas health and spa centers. And had a little stint in fashion and interior design because that was a passion of mine. But then eventually went back into the healing arts.
And eventually self-development, and it sort of became, really this holistic, lifestyle, program, if you will, which, you know, we call it Enlight life because it teaches people to live an enlightened life. And what more do we need? Especially now, if not to be living, you know, an enlightened life.
Absolutely. Absolutely. So what can you share with the people on our summit today about clarity and how you [00:03:00] get clarity for yourself?
Beautiful question. I feel we asked two little, about how to get clarity in business, especially. And clarity primarily comes through the way that I live.
Every aspect of my life and, you know, I to be constantly plugged in to what I call source consciousness, whatever we want to call it. You know, some people call it God, the divine existence, I call it source consciousness. And that is where I get my clarity from because I feel, you know, at some point in my life, I felt there is so much noise out there and so much information like we are all bombarded and overwhelmed with information and everything is tearing us in a different direction and saying, I've got the answer, I've got the answer, I've got the answer. And at one point for me, it just became overwhelming. And I realized the [00:04:00] only way to get clarity is by being connected to source. And so the way I became connected and became connected is really primarily by first and foremost, always looking after my body because our body is the vessel through which consciousness and everything else flows. So if our body's not completely online, then we are talking, you're going to get kind of like, we're going to be a bad radio station.
What we receive will be very much muffled. We are too much in our mind. Again, we will have, we will receive bad information. And so it's primarily, you know, living, on a mainly raw foods diet, and really keeping my temple super clean and clear meditating, and having a really good and [00:05:00] deep daily practice that roots me.
And connects me to source. So that's really how I get clarity. And always like to say, I don't, you know, I don't read a lot. I don't take information from the outside. I access information directly from, from source because it's too overwhelming to access anything else for me. And it's, it's worked well.
Marni: [00:05:25] That's
wonderful.
That's wonderful. And so what about power? Or sometimes I call it willpower because as you know, all of us, there are days when we have goals and dreams and desires, or we're, we're working towards something in our business and something's not going right.
And where do you
find the willpower when you have days like that?
Or, you know,
When
you, when you just are having a hard time, how do you find that to go power [00:06:00] through it kind of
thing?
Alex Cousins: [00:06:02] Right. So I don't really use willpower. For me, willpower, you know, is again, it's the power of the mind. So I access my innermost power. And oftentimes that means that when I have days where things aren't flowing, instead of being in resistance or instead of overpowering what is happening.
I simply go within and I take it as a sign of the universe that something is not flowing. If I'm not feeling like doing whatever it is I should be doing it as a way to enter into what am I, what is actually going on. So instead of ending, it's not happening and going like, Oh, but we need to get the stuff done.
I allow myself to go wherever I am being called to. And sometimes it may mean spending half a day in bed kind of maybe moping [00:07:00] or whatever it is, and allowing myself to go through that and feeling what's there. And that is how I then access my true power because
Marni: [00:07:10] That's interesting. Yeah. You know, sometimes I, I find, an analogy of surfing.
You know, when, when you can feel the wave coming up, you know, you that's when you want to paddle. Right. But when the wave is against you and it's pulling out and, and if you're, you're
just,
you're going to totally wear yourself out. Whereas if you just let, go and go into it. Then you'll be rested and ready for when it's going to go with you.
And that's kind
of how
I interpret what you're saying. There is you kind of let go and then wait for the right moment
to go forward quickly.
Alex Cousins: [00:07:52] Exactly. Exactly and that's where I, you know, resistance, I would say resistance is futile because whatever you [00:08:00] resist persists. So we might as well go into whatever is arising for us.
And if that is inertia or tiredness or just no interest for something. Then we need to go there. And oftentimes it's simply because we need to slightly shift our, our focus or because we're suppressing a desire. So I always work with whatever's present.
Marni: [00:08:24] Yeah. Yeah. And sometimes it is, it is in the mind too.
It's like, it can create issues
for itself, if we
overthink things.
Yeah?
Alex Cousins: [00:08:35] Oh, yeah. I feel, you know, we, we all kind of know that what is, what is present for all of us, at the moment is we are, we have this invitation to go into our feminine. Which is the creative feminist creation. And so if we always access [00:09:00] everything from the mind from the masculine, which is what we're currently experiencing, right.
The world right now, is in the situation that it is in because we have kept creating things from the masculine where allow ourselves to follow our feminine flow and creative. you know, intuition, that is where we find all the answers and then we don't need to use power. Can we use our force, our innate force to create with the force of nature.
Marni: [00:09:39] That's beautiful. That's beautiful. And so what about
follow-through.
So
for instance, you have that clarity and you have now
that force, right?
What structures do you put in place to help you follow through on those things that you've decided that you're going to do?
[00:10:00] Alex Cousins: [00:10:01] I don't really have structures. I, everything that I do really does come out of.
The feminine. I mean, I have a team of people who assist me and so we all have different roles, but it really about, you know, each one of us being in our highest creative flow and doing what we love and feel when we do what we love and when, when we're pulled by our desire. Structures aren't really that necessary.
I mean, of course, there's a business structure per se, but you know, it's not this, this typical rigid, which to me, that's the old world, you know, we operate very much in the new world where there is, it's all about flow. And when there is flow, we go and rather feel into where are we stuck rather than structures.
So in some ways, the structure really is our vision. Gives the [00:11:00] structure.
Marni: [00:11:00] Got it. Got it. So that in, in, to ensure that you will follow through with something, you kind of go back to the beginning, is that what I'm hearing kind of thing, going back
to why?
Alex Cousins: [00:11:14] Yeah. It's, it's the, it's the why, why are we doing this?
You know and is the serving. So what we do, you know, we operate in a very different level. A different way in a sense that, you know, nothing is driven by, my money. Nothing is driven by sort of any goals, but everything is driven by are we serving our people at the highest level. And as long as we focus on that, so if you will, that is our structure.
That is our focus. And as long as we are within that focus, everything, you know, that you're doing will serve in that group.
It works out.
Marni: [00:11:53] Yeah. That's beautiful. What time is it there in Bali?
Alex Cousins: [00:11:58] It's quarter [00:12:00] past 9:00 AM now.
Marni: [00:12:01] Oh, that's great. That's great. We found a time that works for us. That's awesome. Well, tell us, what your free gift is for the people who are coming on to the summit in listening to your talk
here.
Alex Cousins: [00:12:17] Yes. So I would like to gift everyone what I call my three-day detox intensive because I so strongly believe in this is what we teach around the world is that when we are in a clear body, everything else starts to align, and I know how difficult it can be to, you know, follow through with this on your own. So we've put together really potent, three-day detox intensive, and it's short enough for everybody to do.
And at the same time, it takes you deep into what is possible. And by the end of the three days, you should feel really aligned and really good, so that you can experience. What is possible and to [00:13:00] keep in mind, you know, that's the tip of the iceberg, what you will experience in three days because you know what?
We have a lot longer.
Marni: [00:13:07] Yeah,
absolutely. But it gives, it gives them a taste of, of that. you know, having, having a detoxed
body
so that you can be more of a vessel, right?
Alex Cousins: [00:13:21] Absolutely. Absolutely. Yes. I mean, people have had profound experiences and so depending on where you're at, you will definitely get a lot out of it.
And, and then you can see what more is possible for you. And we are really just scratching the surface of what's possible for us as humans. And that's all about, you know, where what, what is this new reality, this new earth that we are creating. And it's all about coming into. our lightbody coming into owning our divinity and all of our superpowers, you know, like we know that [00:14:00] we know the masculine and now there's a whole new discovery, really of our magical cells, which is the feminine.
Marni: [00:14:07] Yeah.
Yeah, that's beautiful. That's beautiful. I've really, I've noticed myself because I was ill with the coronavirus and, I'm one of those kinds of type a kind of driver type of people, but I've really noticed how much of a difference
it makes for me. In
allowing when now I
can feel my
body, I can hear my body.
Now I can hear when it needs a break and
in giving
that it's odd, but I feel more life
now, you
know? Yeah, it's really, really interesting. And then when it, when it has issues because there are residual issues after the virus and I hear it, [00:15:00] I'm like, okay, stop. I need to go and do something else. And actually, a speaker that I was, interviewing earlier today told me that there's bioluminescence down at the ocean.
So right after the call, when I'm done with you today here at seven 30, it's six 19. Now it's seven 30. I'm going to go down there and I'm going to go in the ocean and I'm going to experience that bioluminescence and I'm going to unplug from the day. So thank you for confirming that beautiful thing of just, you know,
listening.
Alex Cousins: [00:15:36] Yes. We're always supported. That's the thing. And we'd be planting life. Thinking that we need to work for everything so hard and we need to apply our mind. And if it's not difficult and challenging, then it's not right. And in reality, you know, we are completely given everything that we need. Our body's constantly speaking to us [00:16:00] nature, speaking to us, but we just have to allow it.
And that's in consciousness that really is required. And then all of a sudden we realize, well, Heaven on earth is here as much as right now. It doesn't look like it. Heaven on earth is here. Yeah.
Marni: [00:16:17] Yeah. And you just have to get to that space. And that's the, one of the things with mindfulness
is if you can
shut all that internal noise down, then you can hear
Alex Cousins: [00:16:31] absolutely.
Yeah. Wonderful. It's a spiral you know, it doesn't end, it just gets better and better and better, more and more easeful, more and more gracious, more and more abundance. So that's the beauty of this path is there is no end to the love, the beauty, the harmony it's it's ever-expanding, and that ease also is ever-expanding.
Marni: [00:16:58] Wonderful. Well, thank [00:17:00] you so much for coming on today, Alex, and I'll make sure that. That we attach that to your interview here and enjoy your beautiful day coming up.
Alex Cousins: [00:17:11] Thank you. And yo, happy ocean time.
Marni: [00:17:13] Thank you.
To use Alex's system in EntireTask
Because she relies so much on source for her what is most important is understanding the why, that's really what gives her power and clarity.
In EntireTask you would mainly use the Vision component to create the vision for each area of your life and your vision board so that you can keep your why top of mind.
